It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a proper Sony handheld gaming device, and while the PlayStation Portal is technically a Sony-branded handheld, it leaves a lot to desire especially for more passionate fans of Sony’s earlier handheld efforts, which include the PSP Go and Xperia Play.

Speaking of the last two, it looks like we’re getting a revival of sorts, courtesy of ANBERNIC. For those unfamiliar with the name, ANBERNIC specializes in churning out dozens of different retro gaming handheld devices each year, a lot of which run on Android and come pre-loaded with emulators for older games. A recent teaser video from the company shows off the ANBERNIC RG Slide, which features a form factor that closely resembles the PSP Go and Xperia Play.
In addition to its design, the RG Slide features a 4.7-inch IPS display which interestingly comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 1280×960 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 500 nits of brightness. It’s also a touch screen meaning that you can run Android games in portrait mode as well. At the moment though, ANBERNIC hasn’t revealed pricing or availability, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
