Kara Young in First Trailer for ‘Is God Is’ Thriller About Twin Sisters

“Tell us where to find him!” Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first official trailer for a movie called Is God Is, an adaptation of the award-winning stage play of the same name. This thriller is set to hit theaters nationwide starting in May during the summer movie season. Looks like it could end up being a sleeper hit! “Redemption. Revenge. Rage.” The twin sisters Racine and Anaia with disfiguring burn scars are ordered by their bedridden mother (known as “SHE” or “God”) to kill their abusive father who caused their scars. The sisters travel to The Valley to face Man and his new family. They must decide whether to seek vengeance or find mercy. Is God Is is also directed by the same woman who wrote the play – Aleshea Harris – making her directorial debut. The movie stars Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Janelle Monáe, Erika Alexander, Mykelti Williamson, Josiah Cross, with Vivica A. Fox and Sterling K. Brown. Looks damn good – a gritty, grainy, old school revenge thriller about girls going to get back at their abusive father. Worth a watch.

In the film, two sisters (Kara Young & Mallori Johnson) embark on an epic quest for revenge, confronting a charged family history that will push them to extraordinary lengths. This is Aleshea Harris’ directorial debut and is based on Harris’ adaptation of her award-winning play on vengeance. Is God Is is written and directed by American writer / filmmaker Aleshea Harris, making her film diectorial debut with this adaptation. It’s also based on Aleshea Harris’ award-winning play of the same name, which first debuted on stage in 2018. It’s produced by Tessa Thompson, Kishori Rajan, Riva Marker, Janicza Bravo, Aleshea Harris. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Amazon MGM Studios debuts Harris’ Is God Is movie in US theaters nationwide starting on May 15th, 2026 coming soon. Who wants to watch?
