A sequel to the Julia Roberts romantic comedy “My Best Friend’s Wedding” is in early development at Sony Pictures. The studio has tapped “Materialists” and “Past Lives” writer-director Celine Song to write a screenplay for the project.
The development comes shortly after Dermot Mulroney, who starred alongside Roberts in the 1997 original directed by P.J. Byrne, teased that “there is talk of a sequel” to the New York Post.
