Cast, who first joined Y&R back in 1986, said it would’ve been a total no-brainer for Nina to show up to Cricket and Danny’s big day, especially since she’s been maid or matron of honor at all three of Christine’s past weddings.

When the show called her about returning, she had no clue what storyline was waiting. “I just about fell over in my chair!” she laughed when she found out the couple was reuniting.

But while the wedding brings joy, Nina is carrying deep grief. As fans know, Carter, who worked as Cane’s assistant, shot Chance in Nice, France, and killed him as he died in Cane’s arms.

Cast revealed she first learned of the storyline in the most unexpected way, from a restaurant waiter in Nashville. “He goes, ‘Oh, they killed your son,’” she recalled, thinking it had to be a misunderstanding. “And so I had to look it up!” (Via Soaps.com)

But even with the wedding joy, Nina is still carrying heartbreak. Fans know that Carter, Cane’s assistant, shot Chance in Nice, France, killing him as he died in Cane’s arms. Cast said she found out about the storyline in a strange way, from a waiter in a Nashville restaurant.

“He goes, ‘Oh, they killed your son,’” she recalled, thinking it had to be a misunderstanding. “And so I had to look it up!”

After she confirmed the storyline was real, Cast said she hoped the show would let Nina fully process her grief. The long-awaited face-off between Nina and Cane plays out during her visit. This gave fans the emotional closure they’ve been begging for.

“I don’t think Nina could leave town without having her say,” Cast shared, adding that the scenes were written and acted with care. She believes viewers will feel “satisfied” by what unfolds, even if it’s tough to watch.

Cast also took a moment to praise Billy Flynn, who now plays Cane, calling him a “wonderful actor.”

“What a wonderful actor!” she said. “It was really, really nice to go on that stage, and everyone is so prepared and good, just flat-out talented, and I’m so pleased and privileged to be a part of it,”  Cast also said she feels incredibly grateful and touched that people still care so deeply about her character.
